I'm on beard no. 2 right now. The first one didn't work out too well--apparently you are supposed to wash them  occasionally.

Thanks for the update Jon. Great to hear AtG will be out soon--I stopped playing for a few months but can't wait to get into it again. It's a special game!

I'm sorry but I am not an apologist.

I bought the game last year but didn't kickstart it. It is hard to know how close the game is to completion but I have already played it for 50+ hours. So I feel pretty satisfied with the price I paid. I get that there are a lot of people frustrated but making a strategy game is hard--I should know because I've made none. I get the sense that the hold up we are experiencing now has to do with endgame mechanics or victory conditions. Can you imagine how long testing that stuff takes?

Based on the attention to detail (tooltips, clan traits, theme, music) in this game it seems to me that At the Gates is something Jon cares deeply about. It will be finished and released. There are lots of reasons why someone might not want to communicate. Personally I would prefer Jon not give updates and either work on the game or take a break from it if it's getting to be more of a chore than a passion for him.

But it wasn't over for John Rambo. Not in a welshman's ballbag. Rambo came back three times to kill commies / hippies / assorted foreign-type individuals.

Pretty sure this type of post is not helpful. Hope it made you feel better though--gettin' it off your chest, like.

After Civ 5 I imagine John Shafer could have gone to lots of companies and made more civ-style 4x games. Instead he went out on his own and created something unique and special in ATG. We are all lucky that he actually cares enough about his craft that he took this risk. ATG in its current form is an awesome accomplishment--it is easily one of the best strategy games of the past few years.

I need to go make some parchment.
