Trust me Tribble in case you don't know XML: It's super easy to change XML files. So easy that there is not an ultimate need to have a specialized editor to modify them. Any ASCII editor can do the work.

Yep, I agree. Honesty is much better than secret cheating: It really made me rage to lose vs - sorry - dumb AIs until I knew they were cheating.
And it's okay for me if there are some cheats to increase performance, but what I hate is giving the AI extra ressources.

Most important thing to focus on? How about making the AI easily scriptable and modifiable? Playing with AI scripts could be a lot of fun for some players, and perhaps the most interesting and effective AIs would emerge from the collective efforts of those players.
hey wow,  so i am not the only one with this focus. to be honest, having the chance to modify the ai is what makes this game interesting to me. access to the complete sourcecode is really, really awesome. for e.g. i spend a little time with the age of empires 2 ai system. it was amazing how you could  improve the default ai but the aoe system had many limitations. u could change when to build what building, when to train which unit and when to research, plus change some variables. but there was no way to improve the poor battle ai or the strange way of building walls. by realeasing the ai source code from atg there won't be such limitations. (at least that's what i hope and understand.)

I just want to use this thread to ask another question. On Kickstarter it says:

"DLL Mod Support
You’ll be given the source code for the interface, AI and map generation, allowing for full customization of these systems. "

So users will be able to modify the AI system? Will there be any limitations like only changes to the high-level strategic AI are possible or complete access granted (would be awesome!) ?
